Gospel for today July 25, 2011

Matthew 20: 20 - 28

20 Then the mother of the sons of Zeb'edee came up to him, with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something.

21 And he said to her, "What do you want?" She said to him, "Command that these two sons of mine may sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom."

22 But Jesus answered, "You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?" They said to him, "We are able."

23 He said to them, "You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father."

24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers.

25 But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them.

26 It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant,

27 and whoever would be first among you must be your slave;

28 even as the Son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

My Gospel Reflection

The gospel for today reminds us that if we want to follow Jesus, we must become servants just as Him reason for coming on earth (not to be served but to serve). We need to understand that it is import for us to serve or to help those people who needs help. It is not enough to do good to yourself only or to some or your friends, but you have to extend your help to everyone. We must do our best in order to do an act of kindness to people around us especially for those who need it. The gospel for today is also telling us that if we want to be with God, we need to become servants of others.

Who will win the NBA Finals

Definitely a lot are looking forward on which team between DALLAS MAVERICKS and MIAMI HEAT will win the Finals. Looking at the trend I bet MAVS will win the finals (of course I’m a MAV fan). But, it will definitely be not an easy win since HEAT will be playing with home court advantage. The pressure of winning game 6 will be on the MIAMI hit since that would be a now or never game for them. If they lose, it will be the end, but if they will, they will be passing the pressure to the MAVS (hopefully that won’t happen.. hehehe).

A Must See Korean Drama: Dating on Earth

Just recently I have watched a Korean drama entitled “Dating in Heaven”. I have finished watching the whole movie in just one day. The story was really awesome as well as the main characters. It was about the married life of a high school student(Micky Yoochun) who is married to a teacher (So Hyon Jin). The story became really interesting because Yoochun did not know that her wife will teaching in their school.

Part-time Content Writer - ASAP

My current work is as a content writer online. To make it simple, what we do is write articles base on the description of the employee and of course we do get paid for every article done. Right now, we are focusing on writing a 150 word article. This will be posted in BuildmyRank.com where in the minimum number of words for a single post is 150 words. As of now, we do get a lot of offers for project like this. With the mentioned information, we really need some good content writers to work with us.

For everything to work well, we are inviting only those who are in Davao City for the said job for now. Currently we are invited for project that might last for about three months. The work will be base on the projects that we have so if there will be no project there is no work. This is really a good source of part-time income for the right person. We do require our members to be good in writing articles, we are very particular with grammar. But, not totally those like the pros. I am not also good in English but i continuously learn.

Using Cellphones: Has a tiny chance of causing Cancer

When I was browsing through the internet yesterday, one link caught my attention, and it concerns the use of cellphone considered as a health hazard that might lead to cancer. I was alarmed since I am also a cellphone user myself. I always bring with me, my cellphone, and I do use it frequently. I have heard before on bad effects of using a cellphone to health but not this serious where cancer is involved.

When I read the whole article, I was quite relieved to know that there is really no direct link between using a cellphone to cancer. There have been studies conducted to check if there really is a link between the two, but they found out that it may have some link but in a very small percentage and it is not that constant to be considered as something that we should worry about. In fact, there is a researcher also who said that the news on some possibilities of cellphones causing cancer does not affect him since it really has no enough basis to be worried about. He still uses his phone as usual.

A Big Irony

Lately, I came across this line, “”The wrong things you do are remembered, while the things you do right are always forgotten. This line struck me since I do believe that this is very much correct. People today always never forget the wrong things you do; they would keep on telling you your mistake once you have some quarrel with them. The things that you do right are only appreciated for a day or even hours only and after that, it’s gone. Why do people always see the mistakes of others? When you commit some mistake, it’s like you committed a mistake to the whole world but when you do something right, there are even times that it doesn’t get noticed at all.

10 Ways To Happiness (Part 2)

Good day to everyone, I will now be posting the other five ways on how I make myself happy. This is a continuation to the post i made yesterday. By the way, I was really surprised with the number of views I had on that post, thank you very much for everyone who have viewed my post. I guess there are a lot of us who wanted to be happy everyday. Maybe we are really made to look for things that can make use happy. I do hope you find a reason to smile and be happy at this moment. Just leave your comments, it would really be appreciated.

Here are the top 5 ways for someone to be happy base on my own idea.

5. Live a simple life – Those who live a simple life are the ones who are very happy and have less encounters with stress. Living a simple life doesn’t mean that you will not anymore work, or you are free to loiter around during class hours. What I mean is be simple with what you want to have. There are people who are really expecting so many material things in life and just end up being disappointed. When something is given to you by God, keep it no matter how small it is. A simple life means a healthier and happier life.

4. Do some cooking with friends or your special someone – In my own experience; cooking is one of the happiest times with my best friend. We do share a lot of ideas on how to cook something. We always enjoy the things that we do when we cook. I really could not explain why but when we cook, our friendship get stronger. Try also doing it with your special someone, it a good way to have quality time without spending that much. In our case, we do always look for things that we can enjoy together without spending that much since I will be studying my degree course and we are saving our money for it.

10 Ways To Happiness (Part 1)

Two days ago, I have read a question on Facebook saying “How to find happiness”. When I read this, I tried to ask myself if there is a specific way for us to be happy. What is mean is, a formula for happiness. In mathematics, everything can be calculated; everything has a formula and a specific way on how to deal with problems. But, with finding happiness in our life, is there really a specific way of doing this? I guess we all travel different road to happiness. Let me share you mine.

Here are the first five of the 10 ways for you to be happy. I don’t have much time so I will just post the other five tomorrow.

10. Sing every morning – I really love to sing since it brings joy to my heart and it makes me feel lighter and more comfortable when I sing. Singing for me is a medium to relieve stress and also to get my day started in a right way. I usually sing my favorite songs like “God gave me you” and “I will take you forever”. I know you also have your favorite songs, why not try singing it every morning, you will definitely feel better.

9. Be kind – Being kind and friendly to everyone is also a way for me to be happy. As what I have observed, when I am angry with someone or in something, I usually feel sad. So most of the time, need to be kind and try my best not to be angry at someone so that I would feel sad. Giving a smile to everyone really is a great help. They say that I have a beautiful smile, that’s to those people, I really appreciate it. (Smiling)

Chin Up, Bright Days Ahead

When we had our walk in the streets of Davao last week, one of the things that caught my attention is the vandalized statement I saw I one wall which say “Chin up, Bright days ahead”. Honestly, I was shocked when I have read this message since it really lightened up my feeling. Being able to read such phrase is really comforting. I suddenly ask myself why this statement is in this wall, as far as I know, when we say vandalism, most of the works of marks that we see would be nonsense. But, this one is really different.

When will we get satisfied?

Last night I was trying to fill a pail for cleaning the dishes I have at home, since the water flow is slow I decided to leave it and be back in a couple of minutes, when I get back, I was surprised that the pail is not yet full to the brim. I checked the container and found out that there is a crack on the upper part of the pail where water is also flowing out. When I was about to sleep, I came across the experience that I had and realized some thoughts.

Life is work itself

Often times I hear people say “I don’t have any work to do now, it’s really boring”. What these people do is simply sit in their couch, watch some movie, and eat some junk foods and texting a lot. Some people might envy them since they do not have much work to do. But like what is mentioned in the statement, life like that one is really boring.
