Matthew 13: 24 - 30
24Another parable he put before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field;
25 but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.
27 And the servants of the householder came and said to him, `Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?'
28 He said to them, `An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, `Then do you want us to go and gather them?'
29 But he said, `No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"
I could not forget this gospel since I have heard of this just recently I guess it was about 2 weeks ago in a Sunday mass I attended. The homily is the priest was really great because of the way he delivered it. The main word I could remember was “An Enemy had done this!” The gospel today talks about the Kingdom of Heaven where God only sowed good seeds and when his servants woke up in the morning they we surprised upon seeing weeds. The seed represents the evil things in this world. The this evil things is done by the enemy, “the devil”.
We should not blame good for the bad things that is happening in our life because those are not made by God, those are all because of the devil. The question now is, “Why does God allow these evil things to happen?”It is to remind us that we need God. That afar from Him we are nothing. If everything in this world would be good and perfect then would you think people can still remember God?
Let us be reminded that God wants us to be with Him. He constantly invites us into His banquet of love. It is not God who abandoned us, it is US who abandoned God. When we encounter different misfortunes in life, do not blame God, rather, offer all those experiences to Him and continue showing your faith. Your faith will definitely save you. You may not experience any rewards here on earth, but your rewards in heaven will be waiting.
