When will we get satisfied?

Last night I was trying to fill a pail for cleaning the dishes I have at home, since the water flow is slow I decided to leave it and be back in a couple of minutes, when I get back,  I was surprised that the pail is not yet full to the brim. I checked the container and found out that there is a crack on the upper part of the pail where water is also flowing out. When I was about to sleep, I came across the experience that I had and realized some thoughts.

I remember a part of the book I read last time where it was mentioned that people never get satisfied. Even I myself is quite satisfied with what I have now. I guess it natural for human to be longing for more. Like the pail, no matter how much water is poured on it, if it has a crack anywhere in the container, definitely it will never be full. We are like the pail, we do almost everything to be satisfied and the measure that we associate with being satisfied is happiness. Am I Right? If I am happy,  then I am satisfied with my life. Are you happy right now? If you are, then good for you since a lot of people are really finding it hard to find genuine happiness. Genuine happiness is not the happiness that you get on an evening nigh party where you feel you are very happy then after the night is over you are left with the happiness you felt that night. The happiness I am referring to is the happiness that you feel every day. The happiness that is long lasting and true. I guess we are made to find that happiness. Everything that we do with our life is all directed to the goal of Happiness. Like the pail, we can never be full or satisfied if there are some parts in us that is not right. Even though all worldly gifts and materials will be yours, you will still find yourself looking for something. I guess world contentment and spiritual contentment should come in hand. If you are looking for happiness, you must look for it from the source of all happiness which is our God. Let’s try to look at ourselves if we have pleased our God, and if you want real happiness, find it in Him.

The pail that was not full, will always remind me of the fact that humans will really find it hard to be satisfied especially if you are deeply linked with worldly things. Everyone of use is travelling different roads but with the same destination, hope you will find your satisfaction in the road that you are taking right now.
